See original posting of this article. Lab RatsDigital City, February 10, 2002 Grads fresh from SAK University's improv program hit the stage for a workout in fast, funny thinking. On Tuesdays, newbie Lab Rats battle for claps in King of the Hill. Eight performers pair off to act out improvisational scenes. The pair with the best applause wins. They have to keep the audience laughing to stay on top scene after scene. (And you thought the playground game was tough.) On Thursdays, seasoned Rats compete in Rat Race. They, too, pair up and perform improv scenes, but this time they battle for peer approval instead of audience applause. Like an inverse 'Weakest Link', at the end of each round, each Rat votes for the best pair of improvisers (besides their own, of course). The Lab Rats are young, creative and enthusiastic. They volunteer their performance in exchange for the live-audience experience. The Rats keep their comedy kid-friendly, so feel free to bring along your little jokers. - Shauna Curphey Note: I wrote 6 to 8 pieces for Digital City each week. This is a sample. |
