Real girls eat beef (2003-02-05) In an effort to stem the tide of teenage girls trading t-bones for tofu, America's Beef Products has launched a site, Cool to be Real, aimed at convincing these would-be vegetarians that real girls eat beef. The site co-opts girl power to push the underlying message: eat more cows. Real girls gotta eat, it says, and here's what they suggest: a barbeque beef sandwich on a roll, a bowl of chili, a taco salad with strips of lean beef, or hey, how about an English muffin pizza with ground beef crumbles. Umm, yuck. Make your own Bush speech (2002-10-24) Some UK pranksters have taken political rhetoric to a new level. They've made a game that lets you choose words and then listen as Bush says them in his own voice. The secrets are out (2002-07-02) ...because telling them online is in. Confideinme.com let's you share your creepiest, mushiest, cob-web strewn secrets with, well, anyone who cares to read. Online remainders (2002-07-02) I always like to browse the remainder tables for quirky biblio gems. Daedalus Books lets me pick through remainders online. Arthur Anderson seeks editor (2002-02-15) The tarnished consulting giant is looking for an editor for their Professional Standards publications. You'll have your work cut out for you. Responsibilities include "identification and correction of inconsistencies and problems" -- along with a keen eye for detail.
The want ad claims Anderson's vision is "to be the partner for success in the new economy," and adds, "The firm helps clients find new ways to create, manage and measure value in the rapidly changing global economy." I think they are well on their way to that goal. Interested editors can see the full ad here.
